Skid Steer Tires, Bobcat Tires & More

Skid steer tires come in all shapes and sizes, with different features and tread patterns intended to maximize the performance of your equipment in all of the different circumstances you might find yourself working.

What to Consider When Buying Skid Steer Tires

Here are some important things to think about when you are buying tires for skid steers online. The first thing you want to consider is how much use your skid steer typically gets and what you are using it for. If you are a farmer who takes the machine out only occasionally then you may be able to get by with a standard economy tire. But if your equipment is on a job site regularly and logging heavy hours then you should invest in premium bobcat tires or skid steer tires that give you extra life. You will spend less money in the long run compared to constantly replacing less expensive sets of tires. The next thing to think about is how much abuse your skid steer takes. If it is running in a very rough application and you are running over rocks, metal or other debris you might need tires that afford extra puncture resistance in the tread. Likewise, if you need protection from construction debris and the skidding action that takes place each time your bobcat or skid steer machine turns, you should look for a tire with enhanced sidewall protection. Finally, and perhaps most significantly, you should take into account the type of terrain your equipment is operating in. There are tires made to excel on hard surfaces, in mud and soil, on gravel, and even on turf. There are also bobcat and skid steer tires made to perform well on multiple surfaces in case your equipment is moving back and forth from one terrain to another. Typically a tire that excels on gravel will also perform well in mud and soil and vice versa, but that is not always the case. Some hard surface tires will do well on gravel and in mud, while other hard surface tires will perform best if used exclusively on macadam and black top. Generally, if you are operating on turf you will need a specialized tire that is made exclusively for that purpose. There are a small number of tires that are designed for use on all surfaces.
